As a Navy veteran, I'm very attached to this book. But, my book was lost in my last move from Europe. This is a replacement.My original book had many notes but this is still a worthwhile purchase, even without all my original notes.This is the US Sailor's "manual". A handbook. A bible of sorts.All sailors, whether enlisted or officer, receive the Blue Jackets' Manual upon entering the Navy. It is, of course updated but this particular edition is the one I received in 1980.It begins with a "Welcome Aboard" and continues with information all sailors need, from the description of the rating system to how to conduct oneself as an American sailor to an outline of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.It's a must for all who not only serve in the Navy, but a great resource for those who are thinking of joining the greatest Navy on Earth.
I was replacing the copy I received in Boot Camp San Diego,Important information for new sailors
This was the edition we used in boot camp. Good condition, no rips, tears or markings
It brought memories of when I was in the USN. Many topics. Book in good shape.
I had one when I was in boot camp in December, 1979 and just got to thinking about one day when a friend of mine was thinking of joining. Of course I didn't still have mine but this one is an exact duplicate except for all my notes, of course. I still love going back over a lot of things in it.
Just like the one I was issued in Boot Camp, same edition except this is a hard cover; the one I was issued in 1981 was paperback. I lost my original years ago and this brings back memories.
If you're one us, you know this stuff. If you're knot, this is pretty much the post-Vietnam edition of everything you must know to go aboard one of those haze grey and underway instruments of policy. And yes, I know three ways to tie a bowline.
Ahhh the memories and what a nice thing to see another sailors name in it. If your a Navy veteran and want some nostalgia, get this book.Thank you Bill.
