Poolside is a great collection. I am an enormous Aarons fan and have his two other currently in-print books. Poolside shows some of the once great, but now little known members of an international society which is now all but gone. Doinnes, gold-diggers, and scions comingle in glamorous pools wearing Cartier watches, gold bracelets, and the classic '70s look, the gold chain softly nestled in a bed of chest hair. Hermes beach towels and Vuitton bags hold vigle under umbrella tables, visited by bowtie clad waiters refreshing drinks for little sister as she flirts with a countryless prince. Whats keeps his work from being complete camp, is that it was all real. People trully lived these lives. They weren't acting for a camera, they were caught in that moment when they were just happening to be having cocktails in Jamaica with Mrs. so-and-so.My only complaint is that many of the pic.s have been previously published in prior collections and others just don't have all the impact and roundness held in the selections Aarons made for the works published in his lifetime.There are many "society" photographers. None are Slim Aarons.

I love this book and the price is very good. It arrived on time and in perfect conditions. Nice to have it on my coffee table.

I have not thoroughly checked all of the worksheets on other topics.Note to authors: Linking verbs are not transitive verbs. A linking verb makes an assertion by joining two words--it does not transfer an action. Example (Pg. 18, #1): "The story was a mystery." "Was" is a linking verb, not a transitive verb. This has got to be one of the worst written books on Nursing Leadership. It was a required book, so it wasn't as if I picked it for some light reading. However, I was so appalled that a publisher actually agreed to print this book. First, it repeats itself numerous times throughout numerous chapters and the information is sorely disorganized. Interested in the actual definition of a specific leadership style? Yeah, forget it... she never explains everything fully (like actual vocab words) and I was often feeling like pulling my hair out while trying to complete study guides for class. Oh, and forget actually looking for a specific point, because you'll never find it, even with the appendix. Nothing makes sense. The writer also uses lots of cliches to make her point, dumbs down information and also uses business jargon that not everyone gets. A few times she refers to acronyms and business terms that are not defined, and I still have no idea what they mean.I beg the publisher not to make a new edition and please, please, stop printing the book. It's an indictment against the entire institution of nursing... and leadership.

This book was required for my nursing school - BSN program. I feel the selection of books my program chose were all very informative, to the point and we used the books for the classes that required them. During nursing school most people do not know where their career will take them, there are so many options the RN has available, so building a strong foundation is essential to success in the field. Nursing books are not written to be entertaining they are for educational purpose only. This book definitely offered education. After you graduate school and chose a path then find the best reference book you can find and carry it with you until the day you retire. I always recommend the additional study guide to a book if one is available.

Highly extraneous! It took twice as long to read through this textbook than any other textbook I've had in my whole college career. There are too many quote levels, too much website reference material, and too much dialogue/examples on common sense stuff. However, there are not enough examples and graphics on the tougher topics that would benefit from additional explanation.

I really wish my nursing program would have picked a different book. After repeatedly reading sections I would still not comprehend half of it. Business jargon is spread throughout the book with no explanation of most of it--almost as if they used a thesaurus for entire paragraphs then went back to middle-high school level for others. It would state a point and not explain it at all. Horrible. Absolutely terrible.

The book content is fine; what you would expect for a BSN nursing course. Easy to follow and well laid out.The quality of the rental itself is horrendous. The cover is very torn and just about to free itself from the binding, the first eight chapters are clearly water damaged, andthere is some kind of dark brown stain ( coffee?) saturating the top portion of the first few chapters causing several of the pages to be stuck together. It is useable, if you can get over the mental hump of the unknown sticky substance.I have rented for several years now and not had a problem. My review is to document the damages so they don't try to hit me with the full cost.

Not a fan. I didn't find this very well written at all, and I was able to gather better data from my own Google searches than was enclosed in this book. I can't say I would have bought it if it weren't a required text, but if I had bought it for some "light reading" I would have been thoroughly disappointed. As a classroom text, it was near useless.

Required for my leadership and management class for the BSN program. However, this was an excellent book. There is one section on conflict resolution that I had a friend read prior to trying to approach family members after a dispute. It really helped him understand conflicts and ideas on how to begin resolving issues. Best book from my nursing classes.

Dry reading, inconsistent views with nursing theory/evidence-based practice. I don't understand why my nursing school chose this, but there has to be better literature out there!

Bought this for a friend as a semi-gag semi-serious trying to make you laugh type gift. This coloring book is hilarious and we both fell in love with it. Even though llamas are in the title it also has pictures of sloths and unicorns as well as the llamas in various provocative positions. This is a not safe for work or for kids, however on that same note they are in suggested positions but you don't see any actual bits and pieces of genitalia. Honestly it is funny enough I'm tempted to purchase it for myself as well.

So I ordered this coloring book and I was super excited to get it! It came in the mail today and I rushed to open it. I opend the package and went to show my boss what I got. I opens the book and immediately shut it and freaked out. I did not know what sutra was. I thought this was a coloring book of llamas doing yoga. This is a book of animals doing naughty things! Now that I know This I love it even more!

Lovely silly coloring book. You'd think this is a gag joke or novelty product but it has the hallmarks of a good adult coloring book: good paper quality with only one image printed on each sheet of paper. The animals tend to have a lot of white space so you can color them in a more complicated fashion, while the backgrounds tend to be small so you can mindlessly color them in flat colors. I use colored pencils but I imagine markers would be fine, maybe put something behind the page to protect if you're using water-based instead of alcohol markers.

Bought this coloring book to accompany a really cute llama tea infuser and some tea for my Yankee swap gift and it was a HUGE hit. Everyone was cracking up over the illustrations and it was snagged a handful of times as the swap unfolded! Not only did it make everyone laugh, it was actually a really high quality coloring book, with sturdy pages and nice printing. My 17-year-old cousin's mortification on selecting my beautifully wrapped gift and opening it to find this was well worth the cost. :D

This was a gift and a good laugh. I think it's worth the money especially if the person it's for has a sense of humor and enjoys unicorns, llamas or sloths. Haha

For those seriously interested in prediction and classification Dr. Masters needs no introduction. I have all of his prior books and this one takes the field to the next level. The book deals with topics that are crucial and not to be found in any single book. If you want to be operating at the level of best practices in data mining and machine learning from structured data this book is a must read.I've known Dr. Masters for nearly 20 years and he is an expert of the highest competence, modesty and integrity. If he knows something he will tell you what he knows. But just as freely, he discusses the limits of his knowledge.Explanations are clear and intuitive so even those with modest knowledge of this field will take away much of value from this book.David R. Great insights! Rather than describing different models, it actually focuses on statistical strategies to refine existing models. Must have for people who know how different models work and want to achieve some extra accuracy.

Do you ever wanted to know more about data mining algorithms? Are you interested in experiences and tricks that are not written in introductory text books? Then, Assessing and Improving Prediction and Classification, by Timothy Masters, is maybe what you need.This advanced book describes topics such as regression and classification method assessment, resampling and combining classifiers. For each algorithm, the books starts with explanations (some equations and graphs when needed) and continues with corresponding C++ code. It is thus not a book to read from its very beginning until its end. The reader will rather pick some preferred chapters to read.Key aspects of data mining are discussed such as carefully selecting the test set. One strength of the book is to explain advanced concepts with very few equations. Masters discusses points that are key to all data mining applications, although often not covered in standard textbooks. On the drawback side, one can mention the low quality of the pictures and graphs in the book. In conclusion, Masters’ book is an excellent support for experienced data miners that prefer plain text descriptions rather than mathematical notations.

I don't understand how this book was not able to find a publisher. Even I have learned from it (and I'm a professional quant trader), and even where I have not I've seen it positing novel solutions to old problems, or independently reproducing solutions and techniques which are treated as bordering on trade secrets when applied to markets by financial firms.

Assessing and Improving Prediction and Classification is a very advanced book for predictive analytics. It will not teach you how to create a classifier (predictive model) but how to asses your classifier, how to train different versions of it and how to combine them to achieve even better results.The book cover a lot of ground and make you think a lot. At the end of the book, you have enough ideas on how to increase your predictive analytics to keep you busy a long time.One should note that while the methods are implemented in C++, there is a good documentation of it so it's easy to follow. Something missing in many books containing code excerpt.If you are serious about predictive analytics, if you want to achieve better results, this book is exactly what you need.
