Loretta Lynn's "Honky Tonk Girl: My Life In Lyrics" isn't quite what I was expecting. What I was expecting was a narrative explaining the stories behind Loretta's songs, instead what the book is is a collection of all of her songs in lyric form. For instance I was hoping to get the full lyric for "Coal Miner's Daughter" which Loretta has said contained far more lyrics than what was recorded. This longer version of lyrics is not included, the closest it comes is a copy of the original lyric sheet written by Loretta which does contain some different lines than what was recorded. But sadly, it's only the first page of the original sheet included so we don't get the whole song. Only the biggest songs get a blurb written about them. The rest are just presented as lyrics with which album they appeared on. There are photos throughout the book. But perhaps the most interesting thing of the book are the unreleased songs, probably a third of the book is lyrics from songs that have yet to be released (or even recorded). If you were hoping to learn a lot about the genesis of the songs, you won't really find it in this book, if you're looking for a songbook of her lyrics, then this is the book for you.

Great Book Loretta Lynn. The Book has great photos too. What I love about Amazon is that you get stuff for a penny sometimes. This book was a penny. Worth buying. Especially at that price. LOL A must have for any Loretta fan. It's a big book to.

I did not find this book very enjoyable. It was somewhat boring. However if you are a fan of Loretta Lynn, which I am you might enjoy reading about all of the songs that she has written.

One of the best books I 've read in a long time. I especially like how she tells the stories behind how she wrote the songs. And I really enjoyed reading the lyrics of songs that she has not recorded or relesaed yet. Miss Loretta is one great story teller and one the most influential singer-songwriters of the 20th century !!!!!!

This book is broken down in a way that is very easy to understand. Not only will this book help you to pass the Comptia A+ exam (which I did after reading it), but it's great to use as a resource after you're certified. As for the negative reviews given to this book because people thought that a DVD ROM was not included in error, this edition does not come with a DVD as the labs and practice tests are instead downloaded from a website to be run on your computer.This book really helped me to pass the CompTia A+ exam. I would definitely recommend this book to people even with a casual understanding of computers that are interested in getting certified.

 Okay, so it does have good information, but it seems to leave out a lot! I'll get back to that in a moment. There are a lot of typos and formatting errors, which drive me up the wall!! This author's editor should be shot, and then the author should be shot. Doesn't anyone proof read anymore? The biggest disappointment was the practice questions following each chapter. Many times, the answer to a question will not have been addressed in the text. At all. I wish I kept a record of all of them. Other times, the wrong answer will be listed. The explanation is right, but the letter (multiple choice) is flat-out wrong. Or maybe the explanation is just really confusing...Here's an example from pages 1004/1006, question/answer 18.Question:You want to share the data folder as a resource to be used only by network administrators. How should you do this?A) Hide the share ...B) Don't share the folder ...C) Set up the share permissions ...D) Share ... and don't set any permissions.Answer:A) The best way to be sure that no one except network administrators can access a shared resource is to share the resource and set the proper permissions. When you share the resource, though, it may be best to hide it from the network by making it a hidden share so that no one tires to sneak into it.I've always used a combination of A & C, as the answer explains, but you can only choose one answer. So which is the best, Glen? You said "best" twice in your explanation.

Having a background in over-the-phone troubleshooting and customer service, this book is hard to read. The technical aspect is great and totally applicable to Comp TIA BUT I would definitely discount the author's customer service experience. Within the first few chapters, he suggests some things to say to your customers that would certainly escalate any situation.If you do buy this, don't take the 'customer service tips' to heart.

This book is extremely accessible even if you're not Bill Gates. It's got brevity and keeps you engaged while you learn a ton. I'm reading twice before I take my test. It's a small investment that can get your new career going.

I purchased this book for my fiance who is going to be taking the CompTIA A+ exam soon. He says the book is very well written, easy to understand, and has loads of great information in it. I'm sure he'll have no trouble with passing the exam after using this book as a learning tool!

I too had too had to learn to learn when studying for the exam (I used among a many things "The Little Book of Talent by Daniel Coyle - Amazon and Mental Case The Study app for Mac) . I too had no financial industry background (I was told that was a good thing as I would not have to UNLEARN bad habits). I'm 23% through the Kindle version and have already ordered six books he's suggested in Be The Better Broker. Very, very good book Dustan and very good advice. I really look forward to all of the books to follow. I know that all of us who take this job seriously will profit in so many ways.

This is a fun, informative series--I didn't know anything about ironclad ships before reading this book! There's good adventure and humor, though I didn't like how the enslaved characters were portrayed at times--especially that one joke about the slaves (who look happy, smiling) asking to be "confiscated" by a group of union army soldiers. I got the joke, but it was in poor taste and with insensitive wording. I also thought it was odd how a group of enslaved people would ask to leave with union army soldiers, but the book never explains what the enslaved did after that. Did they then fight in the army? Did they keep moving north toward Canada? Just a bit spotty there and not well done.In any case, I'll keep reading the books in the series! Overall it's great.

This series is chock-full of great stories and wonderful history. This isn't a way to trick kids to read history -- it's just good writing, accurate illustrations and a rollicking tale. As author Nathan Hale says, "It's 93% accurate" and I'll add 100% enjoyable. Fourth and fifth graders at my school devour these books, checking out the whole series and then buying them for themselves (Nathan Hale One Dead Spy; Donner Dinner Party; Treaties, Trenches, Mud and Blood (World War I); and the upcoming Underground Abductor about Harriet Tubman).Can't wait for the next two books to appear. I hear the 7th book in the series is on the drawing board, as well.

My 8yo son has read each of the NHHT books multiple times. He keeps one with him wherever he goes. They can have themes that may be shocking for some, but those opened good discussions for our family. For example, _The Underground Abductor_ exposes some atrocities of slavery that I wasn't aware of. Our kid asked questions, and we talked them out.If you have a kid who loves learning and humor and you can handle having discussions about hard stuff occasionally, then I highly recommend these books.We have loaned a couple to friends who don't love reading for pleasure, and they also LOVED these books.

I bought my son the Hazardous Tales series for his 8th birthday, and we have both absolutely loved them. I've never had much of an interest in war history, and would never in a million years have picked up a traditional book on naval battles of the Civil War (yawn), but this one was so entertaining and informative! I'm glad to know that my son will go into 3rd grade with a broader knowledge of American history than most adults, and I'm happy to finally be learning this stuff myself!

I have never seen kids read and re-read a history series as frequently as this. My kids, a mix of boys and girls from 4- to 10-years old rampaged through them, enjoyed reading them, and learned a lot. They seemed to enjoy the subversive nature of books that kept in more of the fighting scenes than most history books. Your kids will (probably) love them as much as mine did.

My 9yr old (was 8 when he started reading this series) LOVES the Hazardous Tales series! He up until these books really wasn’t a reader and getting him to do his reading homework was always a struggle. But these have been great. He flies thru them and then spits all these historical facts at me so I know he is absorbing the content. He has read them all and is eagerly waiting the next to come out. Highly recommend!!!

dated theories but good for seminal foundation

This is one of my favorite reference books as a Plant Manager while taking Lean initiatives, such as Standard Work and Continuous Improvement. I found that the quantitative sections are very useful to enhance analytical skills to take effective actions.Two suggestions to future versions. Firstly, a CD-ROM containing the working sheets in book will reduce work to duplicate by readers. Secondly, more quantitative examples are required to clarify concept in detail so that it might expedite learning (at least in Chapter 2 to 4).Overall, I recommend it to Lean leaders and Plant Managers.

This has been a very useful tool for my 14 yr old grandson who has not had his "Aha! moment" in algebra yet. He keeps it in his notebook and refers to it for homework assignments as needed. It provides reminders for basic concepts when he can't remember how to do something and helps those of us who help him but haven't done algebra since before the crust was cooling on the earth. Good format.

I bought this for my daughter as recommended for her college classes - she thinks it's a worthwhile purchase, and uses it as a quick reference and study tool. Well made, sturdy, and laminated, fits well in her binder.

I ordered this for my up coming semester and by looks of it the explications are good & easy to understand. I will be purchasing more from this company for my niece that's going to be learning 7th grade math. I will purchase the rest of the algebra ones as well. Also I accidentally ordered an extra one and the company has no issues giving me a refund.
