This was a lot of fun.There's a whole book of set up - Planet Hulk - but it's neatly summarized in this book. A group of heroes, tired of the Hulk's rage, shot him into space into what they thought would be a paradise world. It wasn't. After fighting for his survival there, Hulk won and has returned with an army to seek revenge.The Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the US Army throw everything at the Hulk but to no avail. One by the one the heroes of the Marvel Universe fall and a good chunk of New York is leveled as we watch the final epic battle.There are some minor problems, it's hard to believe that a genius like Reed Richards or a sorcerer with a wealth of powers like Dr Strange can't think of more ways to stop the Hulk than we see. And the ending is a bit pat, with everything restored to the status quo. But it's still a fun slug fest with a lot of emotion and heart.The only real flaw is that this is a serial book set in the Marvel Universe so in the end, everything is put (more or less) right. And somehow no one is killed or even seriously hurt. But that's the price of reading a book set in the main universe and if you're a long time comic reader like me, you might snarl at it, but you accept it as well.So yes, I recommend it.

I read this some time ago as a set of print mags. Thank god I bought them all as a set. It was an evening read I could not put down. Then a few weeks ago I was stumbling around Amazon as I am won't to do and there it was again. I'd given my print versions to a young friend who'd never heard of the series. And when I saw the series in Amazon the fire and excitement that I'd felt before rose up in me. The reading was as good and as much a rush as before. HULK SMASH! Feels good to see Hulk triumph! Unequivocally! The team did very well. And if this becomes a movie, I do hope they do it well. It deserves the full treatment as a mini series. Well done Marvel. Another gem for the treasure trove.

I would have given this five stars if not for the art. Romita does landscapes decently well, but I really dislike his human characters, particularly the faces.Once you get past the arts this is a good story, and a fine sequential the excellent planet hulk. So hulk and insufficient followers from planet hulk arrive on earth to reap revenge for the whole exile and exploding ship deal. The rest of the book is just a series of interesting fights, as each hero team and illuminati members line up to take their shot at the worldbreaker. It was interesting seeing hulk and friends wallow in their rage and almost become like the red king they fought so hard to overthrow, and even at his angriest hulk strives to save the innocent. All in all, a must read for hulk fans, but you do need to know planet hulk in my opinion.

This is the book that got me into comics again. I hadn't read a comic in about 15 years but I saw this at our library and the cover looked really awesome so I picked it up. The action scenes in this book are amazing and it is really fast paced. Since being blown away by this, I have read thousands more since and am glad I got back into comics. We bought the paperback and my son looked at and read it so much the binding fell apart. Now we have the digital copy, which lets you zoom in on the individual frames. This one will always be my guilty pleasure.

I've not read many graphic novels that have comics combined, but with the upcoming Ragnarok movie, I wanted to get some background going on what I hope is going to be a fabulous Thor flick.It was.. a different kind of Hulk from my childhood but that's not a bad thing, just.. different.I docked a star due to Zon shipping it with other stuff just laying in the box, a corner of the cover and first few pages got tweaked. Should have had it wrapped or in a zip lock bag or something. I didn't get that "pristine/I am the first to read this" feel from the experience.See you at the movies!

This comic was good from a story's point of view but the drawing and art rendering although beautiful was a muddled mess at time's. It was hard to understand and even interpret what I was looking at. I think it suffered from to much crammed into one plate and that was hard to read and interpret. Comic's shouldn't be this way when the creator's of these comic's is dependent of what you are seeing. I wanted so much to give it more than three 🌟 but it's just to messy.

I have always been a huge Hulk fan, but haven't read comic books for years. I came across the WW Hulk series, but the price threw me off at the time. When I saw this for only $3.99, I jumped on it right away. This was an alright story with the Hulk doing what he does best. Smash! He beats up a bunch of super heroes, who had banished him into space. He is angry and he wants revenge. However, the overall story seems rushed and incomplete. If I had paid full price for this, I would have been disappointed. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the story overall and the books really come to life on the iPad. The Kindle app is great for reading comics on the iPad and has caused me to add comics back on my reading list.

I prefer "A Still Forest Pool" to this book; it is brief and concise, and a good way to get a flavor of Ajahn Chah's teachings, for those who just want an introduction. As "Food for the Heart" was written from recorded talks, I found a great deal of repetition of ideas and concepts in this volume, which are stated much more succinctly in "A Still Forest Pool".

This book is a wonderful collection of teachings from Ajahn Chah. The style is very straight forward-no beating around the bush. Some lessons are aimed towards the monks/nuns (as the lesson maybe talks for them) but you are able to learn from them as well. I recommend the book for beginners to advanced alike. The language is easy to understand, without a lot of confusing "Buddhist Terms" there are some but it has a glossary if you need it (which is great if you have to refer back to it in another chapter). This book is easy to break up-meaning you don't need to read it all at once. I actually took about 6 months to read through it-took my good old time :) -I would read some then let the lessons sink in etc.. while I worked on lessons online for the Dhammapada. Then I would come back to it. No problem at all, as each chapter is different-not like a story-but lessons/teachings per chapter. The stories are wide in variety & I think most Buddhist students can take something away from reading this book. I highly recommend it. I also recommend books by Ajahn Brahm.

Like all these books there will be some ideas that you don't agree with or that contradict other ideas expressed in the same book, but it's one of the strongest books I've read in terms of clarity, practicality and simplicity of explanation. Interestingly (sort of), I was simultaneously reading this and Jack Kornfield's "After the Ecstasy the Laundry". Ajahn Chah was Kornfield's teacher, and Kornfield would occasionally make comments about Chah, like seeing Chah towards the end of his life when he was very sick and a short bit about that encounter. Anyway, "Food For The Heart" is a really good book. I think reading just the free Kindle sample will give you a good sense of whether it's the type of book that would appeal to you.

It would be a good book for Theravada and Mahayana students to study and discuss together. Ajahn Chah seemed to have been right at the intersection of the two schools.

Great reading and lessons. A profound refresher of mindfulness and staying in the now. Recommend this and other books by the author.

This is the best Buddhist book I have read on how to observe the mind so that the truth of "no self" finally dawns upon one. If one is serious about Buddhist spiritual practice, with its emphasis on eliminating "I-consciousness," he or she might benefit greatly from reading these talks of Ajahn Chah.

I highly recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. The teachings of Ajahn Chah are so simple and direct. They aren't watered down for lay people; his message to lay people and monks is basically the same. While reading there where many times when I was genuinley inspired to practice the teachings. While reading there were many times when I thought to myself "Yeah, that really is how things are" because Ajahn Chah states the obvious things in life that we all just don't seem to notice. I have a bunch of Buddhist books and this is by far my favorite.

Steven Rassmussen is a genius, and I'd love to meet this man who understands so deeply how kids learn! I used his materials in the 80's when they were first published, throughout the intervening years until I retired from the classroom, and now, as a tutor, I am using them still. Steven controls the variables in every lesson, just adding one new variable at a time. Kids quickly build confidence in their mathematical thinking because they feel successful page after page. Caution: these materials should not be used by students independent of adult guidance. They absolutely need to hear the "self-talk" that experienced mathematical thinkers use to give themselves feedback and to vocalize the connections among mathematical concepts involved. This kind of elaboration only happens when an adult works with students as they learn. Steven Rassumssen's materials are fabulous whether they are used for whole class instruction or for one-on-one tutoring. They foster the critical thinking we are moving toward with the Common Core Standards as well.

I'm using this two ways. One is to remediate my teenage son's math education. He just needed to focus on one area longer than his public school career allowed so he fell behind in math. Not only is he filling in the holes he had, but he seems to really understand what he's doing and why. The other way I'm using it is to TEACH my 10 year old. She has never seen fractions before this (although I will allow that she is more "mathy" than my other children). These lessons produce FAR less tears than anything else we've used, either in homeschooling or while she was in public school. I'll be hanging on to these for my last child to use. I recommend them whenever anyone asks "Well, what do you do for math?"

this "key to" series is the best--whether for remedial learning or the first time around. Many pages are self-explanatory, but some exercises do need to be explained. Lots of pictures, causing the student to learn the "theory" behind the procedure.

These workbooks make isolating fractions and mastering the skill so easy! My son picked it up quickly because these workbooks scaffold well.

My son has completed the first booklet so far. These really do take you through learning about fractions slowly, giving ample opportunity to really learn the materials. I wanted to take it slowly with the fractions since they are SO important to future math understanding. I homeschool, and I used this as additional material with his regular Saxon math.It seems like this would be good for initial learning, remediation, or for students with special learning needs.

This is a great way to teach fractions. I myself, hated learning them. My kids took to these books and got through them pretty quickly. I do wish there was more work and rather than just a few books, a longer set like the algebra set. If you hated fractions or want to give your students something they can do on their own without too much involvement from you, this is it. I would suggest adding some websites or other workbooks to really give more practice. If your student doesn't need a lot of repetition, then give these five stars. Now, the algebra set is AMAZING.

I have used several "Key to" series. They are good for supplementing if a student is struggling with a particular topic. The teacher or parent may need to go over the instruction portion depending on the capabilities of the student. Concepts are broken down into small pieces that build on each other. This makes it more manageable for the student.

This is a great all around guide to canoe camping in general and the BWCA specifically. Cliff's stories and obviously founded in years of experience and I found myself wanting to travel with Mr. Jacobson on our next trip up north. I was genuinely surprised by the 1 star reviews I read which seemed completely off base. My only complaint was that I wanted it to be longer...I finished it over three nights and wanted much more! Cliff, you don't seem to be lacking in the travel companion department, but if you're ever in need of another outdoorsman on your next trip, give me a shout!

I've purchased other canoe books but the two I bought from Cliff Jacobson I can't put down. I'm a novice and I feel his books are the most informative and real. He doesn't say you need the most expensive things just what works and just what you need. Lots of good advice from a man with lots of experience and a real passion for the outdoors. Book explains all need to know about permits and what to expect when you travel in the bwca.

Jacobsons's BW Canoe Camping is a must read for all who are headed to the BWCA. I do not agree will all of his equipment reccomendations as I prefer somewhat lighter gear than he prefers but his recomendations are tailored more to groups/families where equipment costs are a major consideration. His advice on prepping your gear, and how to stow, load, and portage is obviously the results of years of experience. This isn't a "where to go" book for the BWCA, though he does suggest several routes.

Maybe I should have looked at what the content was going to be more closely but it is amazing they were able to make a book out of such little material. There are like two routes discussed and even those don't have very much information. I don't know if there is another resource out there with more routes etc but if that is what you are looking for, I would avoid this thing

We gave this book to a young man who is reading the book from cover to cover! He is wanting to go on a canoe trip as soon as possible!

Great book about canoe camping in the BWCA. I had never been camping before and this book helped me be prepared and feel better about heading into the wild. Also has lots of great tips about canoeing, what to pack, and what to wear when camping here.

Great book for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

It is well written, well intended, well thought out but I'm afraid pointless.Mankind has militarized everything. First the land, then the sea, then the air, next orbiting space based weapons systems and then the moon. And I have to say that I'm not so sure just where I personally stand on this.One of the points made by the authors is that more money should be spent on foreign economic aid and situations like the aftermath of Katrina. This is going to be a hard sell. Most people believe that money given to foreign aid winds up in the hands of the local politicians and is not really helpful to the intended people. Money to the Katrina victums is one thing. Rebuilding New Orleans is an entirely different matter. It's a stupid place to build a city, the French knew it when the laid it out, which is why the French quarter remained dry. With rising sea waters from Global Warming, a rebuilt New Orleans is another disaster waiting to happen.This book presents the side of the anti-weapon, anti-Bush (Eisendrath has also written: Bush League Diplomacy: How the Neoconservatives Are Putting the World at Risk) people. This is in response to the many who so readily spoke against this beautiful work.Is The Passion Translation a translation?"Every translation is, to a degree, a paraphrase. A truly literal translation would make no sense to today’s reader, since Greek phrases, clauses, word order and many other grammatical points are not the way we speak in English. So there is a necessity, at times, to change word order, phrases and even at times, clauses to fit English. This would be true in every translation that is more “literal.” So if they are moving phrases around, wouldn’t that be a para-phrase? To me, a literal translation would read more like a lexicon. The use of italicized word in most translations shows that there are words added to complete an ellipsis or to enhance the meaning for an English reader. I’m sure you’re aware of the sentence length of the Greek text of Ephesians 1:3-16. To write a sentence like that in English would little more than confuse. Plus, the well known idioms of the Bible, such as “It is harder for camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God,” becomes unintelligible to leave in a literal form. There is a cultural and linguistic aspect to appropriately translating this that is superior to leaving it in a literal form. This Bible is so beautiful. I love the large print and the cover has a lovely, sturdy, texture to it. I've purchased the floral hardcover and passed that on to a friend. I've also purchased the e-version of this Bible, but what a treasure it is to hold these pages in my hands. I'm so grateful for this translation. It has brought God's Word to life for me like never before. So much depth and revelation from cover to cover.

The book itself is lovely: the print is large and easy to read, and the paper is a good quality. The content is fabulous. This is a refreshing translation of the Bible from Aramaic texts. An example, "Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for Your fire to fall upon my heart."Psalm 5:3 The Passion Translation

The Passion Translation has become my "go to" Bible. I'm anxiously awaiting Isaiah to become available! I was having a hard time deciding which color to order, but am very happy with the brown. The larger print is GREAT as are the thicker pages.

Absolutely love this translation!!! The cover is beautiful. Love the larger print, but I would prefer a thicker, better grade paper still as my underlining bleeds through to the other side.

This was a gift for my mother. She has many different Bibles but this one quickly moved to the top of her pile as a daily favorite.

Love this translation. Paper is of good quality and the Bible is easy to read for someone with a vision impairment. Footnotes are great, too. Cover is very pretty.
